Wayang is a Javanese words for “puppets” or “shadow” or “ghost”. It’s a theatrical perfomance of living actors and accompanied by gamelan music. So-youn Park from the Korea National University of Arts has made “Wayang” Interactive Puppet project, which is a digital version of this Indonesian traditional puppet theater.

The project uses human hand to control the silhouette characters on the screen. Users wear the prepared gloves or color chips (see image below) and put their hands inside a small box with curtains just like the stage.

Each puppet has its own personality and reacts differently to stimuli.
