Teletype Announces WorldNav 3100 GPS

Teletype has just announced its latest portable navigation system that, like many other GPS devices nowadays, comes with a PMP functionalities as well, the WorldNav 3100. And since most GPS on the market don’t have anything unique compared to others, so Teletype tries to make its GPS stand from the crowd by offering a revolutionary (well, not really) voice route guidaance feature. Instead the boring “turn left in 100 ft” message, WorldNav 3100 will say “turn left onto Main Street”. In other words, it will mention the street name. Cool, huh?
Runs under Microsoft Windows CE. NET 4.2 operating system, WorldNav 3100 GPS is equipped with Samsung S3C2440 300MHz processor, SiRF Star III GPS chipset, SD card slot, and built-in 0.5W speakers. It is currently available from Teletype’s website (link below) for $459. And inside the package, other than the GPS device itself, you can also find a 2GB SD card pre-loaded with the entire US and Puerto Rico maps data and over 12M POI (Point of Interest).

The Word Nav 3100 is junk. We purchased one 6/22/07 and on 7/29/07 it died. The company sent me a replacement because it was more than 30 days. It cost me $8 to ship the junk back. On August 6 we received the new unit. On Aug 22 it also died. When contacting the “techioes” they blamed my 110 outlet. They refused refund, were rude, hard to reach and charged me a 15% restocking fee. Glad to rid of it. DO NOT BUY!!!!
I have WorldNav3100 and super pleased with it. Maybe it is a version number. Mine is version 5.0
I bought premium and enjoy it. Screen is very bright and speakers are much better then my old magellan.
Did not have problem with recharger. I like voices that come with WorldNav. I think this unit is buy for me! I think I made a good decision.
