Sony has launched their car audio player, called the Giga Panel, that comes with (only) 1GB Flash memory on board. The player module is detachable and can be connected directly to the PC via USB 2.0 interface. Once connected, you can drag-and-drop the audio files from your PC to the device, or vice versa.
The only audio format supported by Giga Panel is MP3. Strangely, it doesn’t support ATRAC song format that usually supported by Sony. However, with the included CD player, you can download the ATRAC song from Sony Connect store, burn them onto a CD, and play those songs from the CD.
Other features is the ability to connect to other MP3 players via the aux line-in on the front of the unit and BBE MP technology that provides improvement to the sound quality from compressed MP3 files and radio.
Priced around $569, Sony Giga Panel Car Audio Player will be available in February next year.
