Sony Ericsson has just launched two new phones that designed for optimal ease-of-use and only come with the basic features, the J220 and J230. Previously, Kyocera Wireless and NTT DoCoMo has released their simple phone to the market that aim mostly for elderly. Sony Ericsson’s concept of simple might be slightly different than those two companies. Both Kyocera Wireless’ S phone and NTT DoCoMo’s D880ss are trying to remove as much rarely and complicated features as they can, thus leaving only the essentials features and making it much easier for everyone to learn and use the phones. In other hand, Sony Ericsson is still leaving some of those “advanced” features, but make it easier to use.

Now let’s take a look at Sony’s J230 cell phone (the other model, J220, will be posted later).

This phone comes with a built-in stereo FM radio that allows users to stay tuned into their favourite stations for music, sports or news with the click of one button from the navigation key. The phone also equipped with a stereo hands free to enhance the user experience. A speaker phone in the back of the phone completes the package.

J230 allows a choice between the single or multi-icon menu styles and easy access to handset features with the one-click interface. In addition, the phone also offers a large phone book (up to 500 phone numbers) and large SMS storage (up to 200)

As you see, almost all of the activities on J230 can be done with just one click. That’s including answering a call, looking up a phone number, and starting an SMS message.

Sony Ericsson’s J230 comes with 3 flavours: cosmo white, cherry red or deep blue; but can be personalised with the Style-Up covers. No words about the price, but the phone will be available in Q1 2006.
