Samsung 3D-Camera Module for Mobile Phone

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has developed a 3D-Camera module for mobile phone. In recent demonstration, 3D images were created by the mobile handset which is equipped with this 3D camera module. As stated by a company official, the 3D-camera for mobile phone based on human eye system offers realistic and immersive experiential images.
A 3D-camera for cellular phones requires two kinds of core technologies; stereo camera and 3D display. Binocular stereo camera with two camera modules working simultaneously minimizes distortion and operates like human eyes. Parallax barrier display uses a 3D panel on TFT-LCD.
The 3D-Camera module is planned to be adopted for mobile devices from next year.
