Rentokil SMS Rat Trap

MouseLet’s see. What an SMS can’t do these days? It can send an alert when a voice message left on landline phone, it can boil the water on the kettle, it can pay for your parking charge, and it can even help you break up with your partner.

Now let’s add the new unique SMS-powered service from Rentokil, a UK pest control firm, to that list. Recently, they’ve invented a Rat Trap that sends an SMS alert when it manages to get one of the cute little mouse. Actually, they design this system to help the pest controller, so they don’t have to check the trap on regular basis, but only when they receive the SMS from the mouse trap.

Technically, Rentokil installed a weight sensors on the trap. Once a rat is in the trap, it shuts the door and automatically sends an SMS to the pest controller. It is possible to send the text message because the trap also comes with a built-in cell phone unit. Of course without the microphone, speaker, display, and keypad. We don’t want the mouse to call their friends for help, do we?
