Bandai Kids Phone

Bandai Kids Cell PhoneBandai will start selling a kids phone in Japan next December. Named “Super mel petit M” (according to the translation), this is not exactly a phone, but more just like a toy. However, it is able to exchange message with real mobile phone via infrared. The mobile phone itself have to install a specific application in order to use that communication function.

Priced 9,450 yen or around USD $90, the toy comes with a fortune teller application (why would a kid need this?), quiz game, exchange message feature, ringtone when message arrive, alarm, and ability to install new application. The phone measures 151 x 191 x 25mm, weighs 95g, and has a monochrome display.

It looks cute anyway, with the hamster image on the body (I love hamster!), but I think the Firefly Cell Phone or Buddy Bear Phone is much useful than Bandai’s Mel Petit M.
