Toshiba and Hitachi To Offer TFT LCD Display With Light Pen Input

TFT LCD Display With Light Pen Input Prototype From HitachiGood news from Toshiba and Hitachi. At the Display 2006 tradeshow in Japan, both companies has unveiled their idea of using light pen as input alternative for TFT LCD display. This new capability will be based on “System-on-Glass” technology. Apart from the light pen usage, by taking advantage of that technology, Toshiba and Hitachi will be also able to develop a thicker and lighter display, compared to the current standard of touch screen display on the market.

On the top right of the post you can see Hitachi’s prototype of this light pen LCD display (click to enlarge the image). You can compare it to the one from Toshiba below.

Both Toshiba and Hitachi are planning to finish the prototype by the end of this year.
