I said Toshiba is my number choice for notebook, right? Well, my second choice would be Sony’s VAIO. Not because of their sexy commercials, but I believe that laptop would fulfill my needs of good entertainment. For example this Sony VAIO VGN-FS680. It knows that I love to watch DVD so it comes with an A/V dock that makes me able to record DVD movies, as well as TV shows. The screen is not wide, only 15.4-inch, but at least it has an ultra-bright display, so it won’t hurt my eyes, especially when wathing a long duration movies.

I usually play mini Flash games right now, so I don’t really need a high-end graphic card. This laptop is equipped with Nvidia’s GeForce Go 6200 / 128MB graphic card which is more than enough for me. And I’m sure I still can get a decent speed on 3D games with it.

Now let’s take a look at the inside of this 14.3 x 10.4 x 1/1.41-inches notebook. Weighs 6.3 pounds (quite light, isn’t it?), the VAIO VGN-FS680 is powered with Pentium M 750 1.86GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and (slow) 4,200-rpm 100GB of hard drive. Not the most powerful machine available, but for a $2,199 price it’s quite reasonable.

Remember the A/V dock I mention above? This expansion dock adds an extra USB port (to the three USB ports that already built into the laptop), as well as Optical Audio out for connecting to a surround sound speaker setup, plus audio and video inputs and outputs. You can also plug the external speakers from Sony into the dock and achieve a better sound quality compared to the built-in speakers.

Sounds good for me.
