HP announces two new mobile workstation today, the Compaq nw8440 and Compaq nw9440 model. Let’s talk about the nw8440 laptop first. This machine is powered by an Intel Core Duo T2300E (1.66GHz) processor, Mobile Intel 945PM Express chipset, 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM, and 80GB of SATA HDD with 7200-rpm and SMART capability. Its 15.1-inch WSXGA+ (1680×1050) TFT LCD display is supported by ATI Mobility FireGL V5200 graphics engine with 256MB of VRAM, while the communication capabilities are provided by the integrated Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express Controller and IEEE802.11b/g WiFi connectivity with wireless LAN security (64/128bit WEP, WPA, WPA2 and hardware-accelerated AES, 802.1x authentication types EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS and PEAP-GTC, PEAP-MSCHAPv2, LEAP, EAP-FAST and EAP-SIM).

Furthermore, nw8440 Mobile Workstation is equipped with a DVD SuperMulti drive, PC Card slot, SmartCard slot, S-Video interface, USB 2.0 ports, IEEE1394, and 7-in-1 memory card reader. There’s also a dedicated one-touch button for presentation mode, info center, radio button and volume control. Measures 358 x 259 x 28 ~ 41 mm and weighs 2.7 kg, the laptop that can be operated for up to 4.25 hours continously is going to be available in July. The price, for the standard configuration, is $249,900 Yen (T2300E/1GB RAM) or 417,900Yen (T2600/2GB RAM).
