    Nick says:

I have had my 17″ Fujitsu n6420 for over a year now. Have to say all in all it did not come out to be what I expected it to be. There are better alternatives out there, like 17″ HP n9440 or HP 8710. Quality of the screen on n6420 was excellent initially, and that was the main reason I bought it, but later deteriorated. Now displays everything in blue hue. Also 4 or 5 pixels burnt/stuck in green right in the middle of the screen. The burnt pixels all grouped together that gives an appearance of a fly dropping. Vexing… The unit is very heavy. It was purchased as a desktop replacement so it’s not such a bug deal for me, but than again, HP models mentioned are both more powerful as well as more portable and better made. n6420 fit and finish is sub par. Parts fit very loosely and screech when moving the laptop. Also, the paint is not durable at all. Palm rest on my n6420 now have two ugly bald spots where I usually place the palms of my hands. Battery life is 30 to 40 minutes tops, and the unit becomes unbearably hot when CPU utilization is high. Fujitsu support is a total joke. I purchased a 1 year next day on-site support. When called in about my burnt pixels problem – I was told that I needed to send the unit in for “evaluationâ€?. Based on that evaluation, they told me, they would have decided whether to fix it or not. Also, for some reason there is no usual Win XP option to lock the screen immediately when you do Control+Alt+Del, or in any other way. The only way is to set 1 minute screen saver timeout- which of course not what I want. Called Fujitsu support – the issue was never resolved. Overall – will never buy another Fujitsu product. Price does not match quality.
