Fujitsu Showcases Wooden Laptop – Fireproof?
While it’s not the first in the world, a woode-case laptop is like a double-sided knife. On one side, it looks cool and elegant. Yet, on the other side, it raises up one big question: is it fireproof? I know a lot of people who smoke while working on their notebook. What if their cigarette accidentally hit the case? You might only receive a burning mark on your common laptop, but with the wooden one? I can’t imagine.
But anyway, Fujitsu has just presented its new laptop, the FMV-Biblo NX95Y/D, during Japan Design 2008 Innovation event in Milan, Italy. No words on the specs (I’ll update the article once I get some more information), but as you can see from the picture, the case is made from wood.
Interesting.

I cant imagine that something like a cigarette could cause a wooded lapyop to burst into flames. Has anyone lit a campfire with nothing more than a cigarette? I am wondering if i could take my laptop apart, and then use an exacto knife to cut out the plastic casing, and glue in a light weight wood material, as a casing. I would have to assmume that doing so would increase the computers battery life, on accont of the fact that the fan would not be needed as much, considering that wood is such a poor conductor of heat.
