More detail about Palm’s upcoming PDA phone, Gandolf, emerges. Looks like I got incorrect information before. I’ve said that the phone will be based on CDMA / EVDO, but according to trusted source, the handset will run on GSM network. Even the high-speed internet access, 3G/HSDPA, will be supported. Other corrections are the 2 megapixel camera and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity.

Furthermore, the Gandolf will have a technical name of Palm Treo 5xx. It’d be released in two different versions. One with Windows Mobile 6.0 OS and touchscreen display. And other with new Palm OS and standard display. The similarities include a 2.4-inch (QVGA) 65K colors display, a 256MB of onboard memory with microSD card slot for external storage, a 64MB RAM, and A2DP support. Weighs 135 grams and measures 117 x 65 x 13.8mm, Palm Gandolf PDA Phone will be available in several different colors.
