Olympus Stylus 600 Digital Camera Review

Olympus Stylus 600 Digital CameraThe Olympus Stylus 600 is an ultracompact digital camera that offers 6 megapixel CCD with 2816×2112 pixels maximum resolution, a large 2.5-inch LCD screen embedded with Bright Capture technology, 3x optical zoom, and 5x digital zoom. It provides 7.9MB onboard memory. Not much, but there’s an xD-Picture Card slot for additional storage room for your photos. Obviously, like most digital cameras, you can record your own video. However, you’d only get 15fps quality at 640×480 in Quicktime format. The QT format is a plus, but 15 frame-per-second is a shame. Oh, and since there’s no built-in microphone, your recorded video won’t have any sound too. Bad, isn’t it?

The Olympus Stylus 600 digital camera is currently available at Amazon for $239. There’s also an Underwater Housing for the camera that sells at $171.44, as well as the Leather Case for just $13.99.

Okay, enough for the commercial break. Anyway, PCMag has a review of this product. Here’s the excerpt:

Back in the days before “talkies,” the Olympus Stylus 600 ($299.95 list) might have found an audience. Today, when the majority of consumers expect sound with their video, this ultracompact performer might fill attics, but it won’t fill theaters. True, this isn’t a video camera, so people buy it for its still-image capabilities—but when you find nothing outstanding there either, can anything else recommend it? Maybe.
