Unveiled during the company’s press event in Milan, Italy this week, the “Toshiba Portege G450″ is a GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA USB modem that also doubles as an emergency tri-band GSM phone. Just plug it a separately-available headset onto this 56 grams device and you can call your girlfriend right away. As for its modem capability, it is powered by Qualcomm MSM6280 chipset and can give you a ride to the world wide web at a maximum speed of 3.6Mbps (3.5G).

Measures 98×36×16mm, Toshiba Portege G450 USB modem features a 96×36px OLED display, a 160MB of onboard memory, and a mini-USB interface. Its battery offers up to 300 hours of standby time and up to 180 minutes of talk time. Moreover, it has a unique 2-part keypad which probably takes a while to get used to.

Toshiba Portege G540 USB modem will hit the store in March for 199 EUR. It’ll be available in three flavours: white, black, and red.
