Toshiba Vardia RD-A300 and RD-A600 HD-DVD Recorders

Toshiba recently launched two new HD-DVD players, Vardia RD-A300 and RD-A600 models. The former comes with a 300GB of hard drive (about 39 hours of HD-DVD movie), while the latter has twice capacity, 600GB (about 78 hours of HD-DVD movie). Both can record movie in MPEG-2 format and then burn it onto HD-DVD media with up to 36.55MBps burning speed. Traditional DVD medias, such as DVD, DVD-DL, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM; are supported as well. Moreover, these players can play movie stored on other devices on your home network, thanks to the build-in Gigabit Ethernet LAN support. Other features include new VARDIA engine for faster renponse times and enhanced recording capabilities, Dolby NR True HD and DTS-HD compatibility, HDMI, D4, and S-Video port.
Measures 430 x 98 x 376mm and weighs 6.8kg (RD-A300) / 7.6kg (RD-A600), Toshiba’s VARDIA RD-A300 and RD-A600 will be retailed for $1,230 and $1,650 respectively. Both player/recorder will hit the Japan market by the end of this month.
