With a starting price of $955, the Thinkpad R61 laptop from Lenovo offers a 14.1-inch widescreen display, up to 4GB of DDR2 main memory, up to 160GB of hard drive, and of course, the next-gen Intel Santa Rosa (a.k.a Centrino Pro) notebook PC platform. This new platform comes with a wide-range of wonderful features, including support for the new series of Merom processors (Intel Core 2 Duo T7100, T7300, T7500, and T700) with 800MHz FSB, support for 802.11n connectivity draft, and an optional 1GB of Intel Turbo Memory for faster boot-up times and applications loading.

Moreover, the Thinkpad R61 laptop incorporates either the new Intel GM956 or PM965 chipsets. The former brings integrated Intel GMA X3100 graphics engine (with 1280×800 resolution) along, while the latter takes advantage of nVidia Quadro NVS-140M graphics engine supporting a resolution of 1440×900.

When it comes to optical devices, customers can choose between a boring DVD/CD-RW combo drive and DVD burner. Blu-Ray DVD burner will be also available, but not until July. Finally, regarding connectivity, apart from the Wireless N draft and standard WiFI, it also sports a Gigabit Ethernet LAN, built-in 56K modem, and optional Bluetooth.

Weighs 5.2lbs, Lenovo Thinkpad R61 laptop is pre-loaded with either Windows XP or Windows Vista (32/64-bit) operating system.
