Sony VAIO FZ Laptop To Feature Santa Rosa Platform

Just in time, Sony yesterday announced the release of VAIO FZ, a 15.4-inch widescreen laptop featuring Intel’s new Santa Rosa platform. This multimedia notebook PC is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processors, up to 4GB of RAM, and up to 250GB of hard drive. The display has a resolution of 1280 x 800 supported by either an integrated Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 or nVidia GeForce 8400M GT graphics engine. Of course, you can expect a variety of connectivity options, including 802.11a/b/g/n WiFI, Ethernet LAN, 56K modem, and Bluetooth.
Furthermore, Sony VAIO FZ series laptop also comes with an ExpressCard slot, 3 x USB ports, FireWire, Memory Stick Media slot, SD card slot, VGA-out and S-Video out interface. It can stand for up to 5 hours of usage with a standard capacity battery, and up to 8 hours of usage with larger capacity. Weighs 5.75lbs, the notebook is pre-loaded with either Windows Vista Business Edition or Home Premium Edition operating system. The price is about $1,400 for the base configuration.
If you want Blu-Ray support, you can purchase the premium edition which costs $600 more than the standard model. It’ll give you an additional Blu-Ray Disc burner and HDMI output.
Sony VAIO FZ series laptop is scheduled to hit the store (and online store) later this month.
