Plextor yesterday unveiled PX-608CU, an external dual-layered DVD burner. Designed to be used with your laptops, this pocket-sized recorder is able to burn your data on single-layer DVD±R (8x), Double-layer and Dual-Layer (DL) DVD±R (4x), DVD-RAM (5x), DVD+RW (8x), DVD-RW (6x), DVD-ROM (8x), and CD-R/RW/ROM (24x) media. DVD±VR is supported for direct disc recording, while DVD+RW background format eliminates the need to manually format a DVD+RW disc. As for the power, it gets the juice from the laptop’s USB bus. Other features include a 2MB buffer memory and support for Hi-Speed USB 2.0.
Weighs less than 9 ounces and measures 15.9mm high, Plextor PX-608CU is one of the smallest portable DVD burner in the world. According to the company, it is “ideal for mobile laptop users and others who require a modern, stylish, and compact DVD burner to use anywhere”.
Plextor PX-608CU External DVD Recorder will hit the Nort and South America market in February 2007 with a MSRP of $169.
