Acer Offers Affordable Aspire AS3690 Laptop

Acer, through TigerDirect and Wal-Mart, currently offers its Aspire AS3690 laptop for an affordable price, around $500. This special offer is valid during the holiday season only, so hurry if you want one. But keep in mind that you won’t find the latest goodies inside as the notebook is (only) powered by an Intel Celeron M 520 (1.66GHz) processor, a DVD/CD-RW combo drive, and either an integrated ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 1100 (TigerDirect) or Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 (Wal-Mart) graphics engine. Either way, both Radeon Xpress 1100 and GMA 900 don’t support the Windows Aero feature in the upcoming Windows Vista OS. Sad.
Other features include a 15-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1024×768, a 512MB of RAM, a 60GB of HDD, a 5-in-1 media card reader, WiFI, Ethernet LAN, 56K modem, four USB ports, and VGA out.
