ViewSonic unveiled three new handheld PCs for the answer to the increase demand of a rugged mobile computing accross a variety of industries, inclduing retail, public safety, healthcase, and military. The V38r-06, V38r-07 and V38r-07a rugged handheld computers features a 3.5-inch QVGA (240 x 320) colors LCD display, a 520MHz Intel SCale processor, jog dial, SD card slot, and a hot swappable Lithium Ion batteries. They run on Windows Mobile 2003 operating system (yes, the old version) and already meet IP54 design standards for sealing against dust, moisture and extreme environmental conditions.

Onto the detail, the v38r-07/a rugged handheld PC, the most advance model on the v38r series, boasts a bar code scanner model, an integrated 1.3 megapixel camera, a biometrics fingerprint sensor, and even a GPS navigation functions. It complies the Trade Agreement Act (TAA) which supports government sales. Other features include Bluetooth and 802.11b/g WiFI connectivity. The V38r-07 model will be retailed for $1,899, while the sibling, V38r-07a will set you back to $1,999.

The other handheld PC on the series, V38r-06, is packed with 802.11b/g wireless support, Bluetooth, bar code scanner and a secure digital (SD) card slot. The price is $1,599.
