Panasonic Unveils Colored ToughBook eLite W5 and Y5 Laptops

Panasonic has just updated its ToughBook eLite series laptops and added various chassis colors to the W5 and Y5 models. Respectively, they will be retailed for $2,400 and $2,570. Both notebooks boast durable magnesium alloy cases and shock mounted hard drive. In addition, the Y5 also comes with a water resistant spill-through keyboard. The W5 will hit the market first this month, followed by the Y5 model in December.

Now let’s check the detail of Toughbook eLite W5 laptop. This 12.1-inch portable computer features an Intel Core Solo U1400 (1.2GHz) ULV processor, a 512MB of DDR2 RAM (expandable up to 1.5GB), an integrated Intel 945GMZ graphics engine with up to 128MB of shared memory, a 60GB of hard drive, and a DVD/CD-RW combo drive. It is also equipped with WiFI, Ethernet, and integrated 56K modem, along with an external video VGA out, two USB ports, a PCMCIA card, and SD card slot, as well as optional integrated EvDO and HSDPA support. Weighs 2.7 pounds, the notebook is available in various colors, including Steel Gray, Merlot, Galaxy Black, Glacier White, Blueprint, Rosehip and the new Crown Blue colors.

What about the eLite Y5 laptop? Comes in a slighly bigger screen — 14.1-inches –, Y5 is powered by an Intel Core Duo processor, a 512MB of RAM (also expandable up to 1.5GB), and an integrated 945GMS graphics engine. There are two USB ports, PCMCIA card slot, SD card slot, and a VGA out port included, along with built-in LAN and 56K modem and optional EvDO, HSDPA, and Bluetooth connectivity. Weighs 3.4 pounds and can be used for up to 6-hours before recharge, the notebook is available in six flavours — Steel Gray, Galaxy Black, Skylight Blue, Firehouse Red, Deepsea, and Bronze Brown.
