Have you ever heard of this Swiss-based mobile company before? I haven’t. But I guess it doesn’t really matter. What’s more important is, the Vecrotel has just announced its new GSM cell phone, the X8 model. And let me tell you, this phone has a very unique security feature. But before I talk about that, why don’t you check the specs first.
The X8 cell phone features a 1.3 megapixel camera module, 240×320 256K colors display, Infrared and Bluetooth connectivity, USB support, and 40MB of internal memory. Measures 115 x 47 x 21mm and weighs 125 grams, the phone offers 350 hours of standby time, 5 hours of talk time, and 4 hours of encrypted conversation.
Like I’ve mentioned above, this Vectrotel’s X8 phone has a unique security feature. I’m talking about its ability to encrypt your conversations over the phone, thanks to its unbreakable cypher algorithm. To take advantage of this feature, for the start, you’ll require two (working) cell phones. Place a secure call to the company to perform a 1024-bit Diffie-Hellman shared secret exchange to produce a 128-bit key which only the two phones know and share. The company guaranteed that this key can’t be deciphered and it will take 1019 years to decrypt the message when there are 1000 computers at work. For enhanced security the company displays a calculated HASH checksum too.
Currently, there’s no words about the price and availability of the X8 cell phone yet.
