The fourth new laptop under the Compaq range from HP is the nc2400 model. Sports as the thinnest (24.8mm thick) and lightest (1.29kg) notebook with optical drive from HP, nc2400 features an Intel Core Solo (U1300 or U1400) processor, an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 chipset, 512MB of RAM (expandable up to 2GB), 40GB of HDD (expandable up to 60GB), and a 12.1-inch TFT WXGA LCD screen. From the processor and HDD, it seems that the laptop is targeted at home users or peple who only need to work on general productivity task, such as writing document, simple database, etc. As for the operating system, users will get Microsoft Windows XP Home/Professional edition and FreeDOS pre-installed.

Other features include either DVD/CD-RW Combo or DVD+/-RW Super Multi with Double Layer, two USB 2.0, VGA, external mic, VGA, line out, IEEE 1394a, AC power connector, RJ-11, RJ-45, travel battery connector, docking connector, Broadcom 10/100/1000 NetLink Gigabit Ethernet PCI Controller with HP Smart Power NIC technology, ADI High Definition CODEC; integrated 16-bit Sound Blaster Pro compatible audio; and integrated speaker.

The standard configuration will cost you $1500 if you decide to get HP Compaq nc2400 laptop. But patient, you have to wait until May 22th before you can buy it.
