Sanyo have jointly developed an in-car GPS device with Nissan, the famous car manufacturer. The HS706D-A is the world’s first car navigation system that comes with an integrated T-DMB (Terrestrial Digital Media Broadcast) tuner. Thanks to Sanyo’s proprietary two-branch and decoder LSIs which efficiently control two antennas and tuners and enables high-quality reception under a diversity of radio circumstances while driving, HS706D-A is able to deliver both standard TV and satellite / mobile TV broadcasts. Furthermore, this GPS can automatically select which one to broadcast depend on the radio reception. When the reception is good, users can receive high-quality standard TV broadcast, and when reception is weak, users will get the mobile TV broadcasts instead.
Nissan Japan will start integrating Sanyo’s HS706D-A DMB GPS device onto their 13 models by July 2006 for 330,000 Yen or around $3,000.
