Sony Japan has added a new member to their Vaio FT series laptop, the VGN-FT50B model. Focusing on the audio and video aspect, this notebook is powered by an Intel Dual Core T2300 (1.66GHz) processor, 512MB of DDR RAM (expandable up to 2GB), and a 160GB of hard drive. For the graphic, it uses Intel 945GM Express chipset that, if I remember correctly, is (unfortunately) using shared memory from the system RAM.
The VGN-FT50B laptop is equipped with a built-in TV tuner so you can watch your favourite programme anytime. A stylist remote control is even included as well. Of course, you can also record the TV shows onto your hard drive if you want for later viewing on its 15.4-inch WXGA (1280×800) LCD screen.
Other features include Sound Reality chip for enhanced sound quality, DVD super drive, Felica port, USB 2.0 and Firewire ports, SD Card and Memory Stick reader, Ethernet, IEEE 802.11a/b/g WLAN, and a 300k CMOS camera for web conferencing. Quite complete, isn’t it? Well, for $1925 (or 220,000 Yen), I’m sure those features are what you guys expected.
Measures 368 x 273 x 30 - 37.5 mm and weighs 2.8 kg, Sony VAIO VGN-FT50B laptop will be available starting from February 13th. If you don’t mind with the shared VGA memory, you can put this one on your shopping list I guess.
