It’s been a long time since we last talked about any fuel cell stuff, one of my favorite subject. So here goes, right from the CES 2006 event in Las Vegas, the fuel cell prototype that can be used in a laptop computers.

Coming from Matsushita Battery Industrial Co., Ltd., the prototype uses T4 notebook from Panasonic for the demonstration which is able to run for about 20 hours continously with 200 cc of fuel. It uses methanol as a direct fuel, just like most fuel cell gadget prototypes. Furthermore, it is of the so-called active type which uses a pump to supply the fuel electrode with methanol. Methanol with a concentration of approximately 100% is provided from outside the cell and is diluted in the cell before use. The average and maximum outputs are 13 W and 20 W, respectively.
