Transcend 8GB 120X CF Card

Another story from Transcend today. Along with the MMCmobile Memory Card, they’ve also unveiled their newest CompactFlash card, the 120X Ultra Perfomance 8GB CF Card. It claimed to have 20MB/s of read speed and 18MB/s of write speed. Hmmm, that’s strange. As far as I know, one X is equal to 150KB/s. So 120X is equal to 18MB/s, not 20MB/s. Maybe Transcend have their own X calculation?
Back to the CF Card. Transcen’s card utilizes UDMA (Ultra DMA) technology to achieve the high speeds (maybe that’s why the transfer speed jumped from 18 to 20?) and is designed with high-end digital cameras in mind. It is compatible with most digital camera that uses FAT32 filesystem for storing images, such as Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Konica Minolta and Sony.
Transcend 8GB 120X CF Card features:
- Fully compatible with the CompactFlash Association and PCMCIA card standards
- Built-in ATA interface
- Built-in hardware RS-code ECC
- Supports Multi-word DMA
It is also available in 2GB and 4GB capacities. They will be showing it off at CES 2006.
