Coming from MusicGremlin, it’s an MP3 player with WiFi support and integrated music store. With its WiFi connectivity, users will be able to download music from a catalog of over two million songs directly to the player, anywhere as long as there’s a WiFi connection (in other words: as long as there’s a WiFi hotspots nearby). Users are also able to wirelessly browse other users device, if permission given, and steal download their songs.
The MusicGremlin’s music store, called MusicGremlin Direct, offers users the option to subscribe to an unlimited “all-you-can-eatâ€? monthly subscription service or to purchase downloads “à la carteâ€? for permanent ownership. Customers can also purchase and download music and manage their accounts through a Web-based version of the service that can be accessed through a PC. It includes content from all four major and 25,000 independent labels.
The MusicGremlin store should be online by CES 2006 while the WiFi-enabled MP3 player is planned to release on the first quarter of 2006.
