LG Telecom, a mobile operator in Korea, recently unveiled the first waterproof cell phone developed together with Casio Computer, the canU 502S. As reported by Korea Times, Kang Shin-koo, LG Telecom spokesman said that when the cell phone dropped in a pool, tub or sink, it will survive in about thirty minutes. That’s good since you’d get a lot of time to save your precious phone and do the phone-toilet-dump-emergency-rescue-method.
There are two big holes on the cell phone, one for the speaker and the other one for the built-in camera module. Both are protected from the water of course. The phone also comes with several shock-proof materials, like urethane and glass, to prevent the canU 502S from broken when you accidentally dropped it. Additionally, you can insert a replaceable protector at the end of the phone for an extra protection.
Other features include a compass with a built-in direction sensor, a stopwatch, an MP3 player, and a 1.3-megapixel camera. Two colors are available (green and orage) for 550,000 won (around $545).
