Axes, a Japanese manufacturer, is going to release their Portable Media Player (PMP) product, the X-Drive. Their key feature is the 2.5-inch HDD casing, thus you can just plug in your hard disk drive and listen to your favourite music. There’s also a built-in memory card reader slot so you can copy your media files from your memory card (CF / Memory Stick / SD / MiniSD / MMC / MD) onto the HDD, or vice versa. I suppose, CMIIW, this PMP device also able to play the files directly from the card.

The X-Drive PMP supports AVI / MOV / DivX / MPEG-1 / MPEG-4 for video playback; MP3 / AAC / WMA / WAV for audio playback; and JPEG / TIFF / BMP / RAW for picture display. It also comes with a video-out port so you can display your favorite movies on your plasma TV. The Li-ion 3.7v 1800 mAh battery provides power for about 2.5 hours. Measures 128 x 76.5 x 30mm and weighs 282 g, the Axes X-Drive PMP is compatible with both Windows and Mac. Three variants are available: without HDD, with 40GB HDD, and with 80GB HDD.
