JamMate, a Korean manufacturer, recently announced their new guitar with USB support, the JamMate UG-1 Guitar. And no, this one doesn’t have Hello Kitty face on it. I’m not a guitarist, so I’m not really sure what a USB connectivity will do for a guitar. Is it just for the power source? Or does it have any other purposes? Anyone care to explain it to me?

Anyway, the UG-1 USB Guitar features chrome hardware, diecast tuners, and a Rosewood bolt-on 25 1/2″maple neck. Planned to be available in Korea for $199 on next January, you can also purchase an additional Pro sound card and a Class D amplifier made specially for UG-1. According to the company, they’ll wait and see whether this USB Guitar will be a hit or not before they work with the upgrade, UG-2. Meanwhile, they’ll work with a USB-powered Drumset which will be available soon.
