As reported by JapanToday, some hidden cameras have been found at several automated teller machines (ATM) in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Apparently, someone is attempt to steal personal identification numbers (PIN) that costumers enter on the machine’s screen. The hidden camera, found by a security guard, was hidden in a business card-sized leaflet box placed at an unmanned ATM in Tokyo’s Minato Ward in early September.
Small boxes with hidden cameras were also found in several ATMs in Tokyo this month, the officials from UFJ Bank said. Police and the bank suspect the camera may have been put in to photograph customers’ entering their secret identification numbers. The camera was found to have a mechanism to transmit and receive images.
