ReadyWhenUR - The SMS Kettle

ReadyWhenUR - The SMS KettleNow it’s turn for this kitchen gadget to taste the mobile technology. “ReadyWhenUR”, a kettle made by the tea makers “PG Tips” in co-operation with the mobile phone company “Orange”, is the world’s first satellite kettle - it lets you brew via a text message or SMS. All you have to do is send “switch on” message to the kettle and it will do the rest, so when you get to the kitchen, the water will be on the boil.

The SMS Kettle, fitted with a radio receiver programmed with your mobile number, an electronic circuit and a tiny set of mechanical levers, will be on sale in January. For now, it can only boil the water, but I’m sure someday we’ll see a kettle that can automatically make a tea or coffee with a simple SMS command.
