New Mobile Phone Virus Capable To Lock Phone MMC Card
Sponsored Links
A new mobile phone virus, named SymbOS/Cardblock.A, has the ability to lock your phone MMC memory card. Cardblock.A is a trojanized version of Symbian application InstantSis created by Biscompute. It works by setting up random password to the card, so once the phone rebooted, the card owner won’t be able to access it anymore, until unlocked. It will aso delete critical system and mail directories from the memory card.
According to F-Secure weblog, some phone such as Nokia 6670 and Nokia 6600 survive from deletion of system directories quite easily, just a reboot and phone is usable. But the user data and MMC card are still lost. Unfortunately, mobile phone with newer Symbian OS version, such as Nokia 6630, will fail to reboot and display message that requests the phone to be taken to maintenance. However the phone can be recovered with special hard format key combination.
