Here’s the story. Most bloggers don’t get enough income from AdSense because AdSense usually shows ads about blog and RSS, rarely about the blog’s content itself. If you’re a regular reader of my blog (hmmm, I think not :p ), you might also notice that most of my AdSense ads in the past came up with only blog-related ads. I even wrote about that here.

Ok, I was wrong, and I take back my own statement :)) There’s a simple trick to avoid AdSense showing ads about blog. And yes, this one is legal and not against their policies, so you don’t have to worry at all.

1. Log in to your AdSense account.
2. Click on AdSense for Content, and then Competitive Ad Filter. That’s right, we’re going to filter-out any AdSense ads about blog from our blog, so they won’t show up anymore. Be sure to read Competitive Ad Filter guide first.
   

   Google combines advanced technology with editorial staff to ensure the highest quality standards in our ad program, but we recognize that you may not want certain ads, such as your competitors’ ads, to show on your website. Ads that link to sites on your filter list won’t appear on your content pages. You can update your list anytime, and changes will take effect within a few hours. Please note that filtering sites may decrease your potential earnings and/or the number of ads that can appear on your web pages.

3. Now enter the domain of the blog-related ads that you don’t want them to appear on your blog. I put 10-15 ads on my filter list.
4. Click Save Changes when you’re done. Don’t forget it might take couple hours (4 hours according to the guide) before the filter rules work out, so just be patience, and watch the result later.

This article has a list of over a hundred ads that are blog-related and not good for your blog I only took some that have ‘blog‘ and ‘rss‘ word on their url, but you can use all of them if you want. You can see my list on the next page.
